Steve planned this flight for our monthly online Fly-In on Saturday 21/08/2021. It was absolutely stunning, whether flying in XPlane with Orthos or, like myself, on MSFS.

It was so good that I asked Steve if I could share it with others and he graciously gave his permission. For those of you who like mountain scenery, and a landing challenge at the end, this is the one for you! Use a C208 or something similar, and get that bird up to 22,000 feet (don’t forget oxygen if required).

The flight leaves Kathmandu and heads north towards Tibet and China then loops round the north side of Mount Everest. At this point, if in a suitable aircraft, you can detour to the summit itself. You then descend through spectacular valleys and turn north again into the valley where you will find Lukla (beware, you come on it suddenly).

In a GA aircraft like the C208, the flight will last somewhat over one hour. Try it, you’ll love it!
